We are looking for someone who is passionate about building, maintaining and enhancing the skills and capabilities of our staff.
A major part of this role is connecting with academic partnerships and graduates to secure opportunities and promote the benefits of working with the Environment Agency. We are looking for an individual to lead our work on academic partnerships, building relationships with academic institutions; and coordinating our activities on student placements and outreach events, such as Brunel and the Open University.
Alongside this, you would lead on our tactical workforce planning activities, working with our business planner, to provide intelligence to the strategic workforce planning group. You will support the team to implement priority actions outlined within the Strategic and Tactical Workforce Plan.
You will also develop our apprenticeship programme, working with teams across the Area to find suitable opportunities in our teams, and with national workforce planning leads to help drive forward the apprenticeship scheme.
You would also be required to support the Executive Office with coordination of Area wide activities and events.
The Thames Executive Office sits within the Environment Planning and Engagement department of Thames Area. The team is responsible for planning and coordinating area-wide activities and events, working with teams across the whole Area. We lead on activities related to assurance and compliance, risk, business performance, health and safety, workforce planning, and learning and development.
This role requires someone with exceptional organisational, people and communication skills who can prioritise effectively with a busy and varied workload and to play a key role in supporting the areas leadership team in the delivery cross-cutting activities. You will be a great team player who enjoys working with people from across the Environment Agency and external partners.

We are looking for someone who is confident to make decisions using your own initiative (and as part of a team) to drive things forward. You will have a good business knowledge and understanding of operational activities at an Area level. We are looking for someone with broad networks across the business, who has experience using these to achieve results.

Some knowledge or experience in workforce planning, a good level of Excel and PowerPoint skills, and experience working with a wide range of customers would be beneficial.
