As Senior Team Leader you will manage the fluvial modelling teams in Midland and South West and be our engagement lead with the associated Integrated Delivery Teams.
Your role will be to agree, prioritize and deliver the modelling and forecasting work supporting the Area FCERM programmes, and oversee the fluvial modelling work delivery in your Inland teams.
You will:
• Establish and maintain good relationships with internal/external partners; understand their activities and enhance Environment Agency goals and reputation;
• Co-ordinate Evidence & Risk activity to support and influence Area delivery and organise modelling and technical support for Areas on agreed priorities
•Plan, monitor and control resources to maximise the efficient and effective use of people (ensuring all activities are completed to time, cost and quality);
• Develop a culture of continuous improvement;
• Effectively lead teams through change, ensuring optimisation of our delivery;
• Participate or lead on national projects and working groups to achieve well-planned and managed integrated solutions that progress effective change and improvement in the organisation.
• Have an interest in diversity. Nurture others viewpoints and develop team members to be effective and appropriately skilled.
The team is part of Evidence and Risk (E&R), a national team that provides expert analysis and advice to manage risk and improve resilience.
We work closely with a range of partners, providing leadership, technical expertise and specialist advice for flood management, data and hydrology. The outputs of our modelling work describe flood risk, provide evidence for determining potential impacts on communities and inform flood risk management and incident management decisions.
You will be able to demonstrate:
• Understand the business of FCRM and the importance of evidence and risk.
• Ability to foster and drive an environment of continuous improvement;
• A flexible approach which allows you to contribute effectively when working with different groups, to be able to adapt and undertake different roles in different situations and ensuring you remain inclusive of others.
• Experience in prioritising high profile work programmes, and with competing priorities;
• Ability to work under pressure and maintaining HS&W;
• Good judgment, problem solving and decision making skills;

Your base location will be within the south west or midlands hub

Remote working/meetings is the norm at present, but in due course you would be expected to work out of one of the hub offices. We use technology to full effect to keep in touch.
The Environment Agency has an important incident management role and you will be encouraged to play your part in a way that fits around your work/life balance.
