Your secondary role will be to lead the pan-area Ops Incident Response duty functions at both FIDO and FODO level. In your IDB role you will lead the day to day running of the IDB function, including the maintenance programme and stakeholder engagement, as well as helping deliver a sustainable strategic outcome for this service. In your secondary role you will lead and shape the area Ops incident response function, taking responsibility for the necessary infrastructure that supports our duty officers as well as ensuring our overall response is fit for purpose. You will be expected to flex your time between these two roles as demand varies.
You will be working independently across two roles reporting to the Ops East Manager. These roles will mean working across teams in both East and West SSD. For the IDB role you will work with members of the Arun & Adur AP team. The incident role is a pan area role involving all Ops teams in SSD in addition to a dedicated G4 officer.
For this role you will require a good working knowledge of the Arun & Adur Internal Drainage District (IDD) as well as an understanding of how an Internal Drainage Board (IDB) works, its functions and its responsibilities. You will be a good communicator with some experience of managing engagement projects within local communities. You will need to be able to engage with our strategic partners in the area, developing and sharing our vision for a sustainable future for the IDD. For the incident part of the role you will require a sound understanding of our operational activities, including management of our flood risk assets, as well as an in depth knowledge of the Ops incident response processes and systems. You will be expected to lead and develop the area operational incident response to flood risk within SSD utilising both internal teams and the commercial supply teams.
We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment.
We support flexible working hours and practices to help you strike a good balance between your work life and your personal life. We will also encourage you to keep developing your skills and professional knowledge throughout your career.
