The Environment Agency is advertising an exciting opportunity to create a better place for people, wildlife and the environment. As a Deputy Director in Major Projects and Programmes, you will be uniquely placed to build a legacy that will have a tangible impact on communities for decades to come.
This is a highly diverse and collaborative role. You will provide leadership to the delivery of current and future assets, to reduce flood risk, manage water resources and navigation and deliver environmental improvements. You will lead the teams that support, assure and enable Operations to fulfil our complex commitments.
Working in partnership with our numerous delivery partners and commercial frameworks you will develop innovative responses to the climate and nature crises.
An inspirational person, you will collaborate closely with Operational Areas and National Directorates, and work across the business as part of a dynamic executive manager community.
Our ambition is to create a nation resilient to climate change, with healthy air, land and water. A nation that enables green growth, and has a sustainable future. And to be an organisation which excels in equality, diversity and inclusion, where work feels life enhancing. Come join us.
You’ll be responsible for a team of highly motivated experts, and influence the work of many hundreds of staff and partners. You will report directly to the Director of Operations Major Project and Programmes, and form part of a dynamic and inclusive team who will provide the vision, direction and leadership to enable development and delivery of Major Projects and Programmes across the Environment Agency.
To be successful in this exciting role, you’ll be a passionate leader that inspires confidence; confidence in yourself, your teams, partners and the people around you. It is essential that you build a team and performance culture that reinforces one business working and has collaboration at its heart.
You must be passionate about developing others, innovative in your thinking and a team player. You’ll also possess strong organisational skills - essential to delivering a demanding portfolio of work.
You’ll be rewarded with a level of trust and inclusion in guiding the Agency successfully through some of the biggest challenges – and opportunities – facing environment, economy and society.
We aim to create and maintain a diverse workforce that better reflects the UK’s diverse communities. Therefore, we particularly welcome applications from people who identify as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic, disabled, female and LGBT+, as we are under-represented in these areas.
