We are seeking positive, proactive and hard-working individuals to join our Devon and Cornwall Partnerships & Strategic Overview Teams as Flood and Coastal Risk Management Officers. These are crucial roles providing frontline support and guidance to our customers.
You will:
• Use your technical awareness to respond to and manage our customer enquiries, including data and information requests and flood risk guidance. You will ensure customers receive informative quality answers within agreed timeframes.
• Provide technical support for the team. This includes: managing the team mailbox, organising and facilitating meetings and events, updating our project management databases, administrating grants and project support for our partners, coordinating and administering flood risk activity enquiries and permits, ensuring we adhere to records management schedules and policies, and making the best use of our data and its storage.
• Work with a variety of teams within the organisation and our partners to ensure we provide holistic flood risk resilience and adaptation
• Work with your counterparts to provide resilience on the above.
PSO provides the strategic overview for flood and coastal erosion risk management.

We:
• Provide the flood risk evidence base with our data, maps and models;
• Regulate main river works to manage environmental and flood risks;
• Work with partners to support future sustainable development;
• Work with partners to develop projects and strategies to manage future flood risk and coastal change.

• Outstanding customer service and communication skills. You’ll be comfortable building and maintaining strong networks internally and externally.
• Excellent organisational skills – can thrive under pressure and work to multiple deadlines. You’ll have an acute attention to detail, and plan, anticipate and act on your own initiative.
• Understanding or experience in the Flood and Coastal Risk Management sector and of flood risk laws, regulations and powers.
• Experience and understanding of 1D-2D hydraulic modelling.
• GIS skills and a high sense of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office and MS Teams, are essential.
• Operate and maintain data and information systems effectively.
• Ability to work remotely and as part of dispersed teams.

You will be expected to work effectively at home and in the office, capable of adapting to and thriving in change and have a good level of personal resilience.

We have a strong incident management culture. You will be given training and expected to support our incident management work; some of this work may require you to work unsocial hours.
