We are looking for a motivated team player to join the Humber Strategy Team until April 2022.

The role is varied and will put you at the centre of our work, as we develop the approach to managing the impact of the rising tides around the Humber for generations to come.

You will work with all members of the Humber teams to support the development of a new Humber tidal flood risk strategy. You will also manage supporting projects that will help inform how we can support communities to adapt to the changing climate around the Humber.

Data is key to informing our approach and understanding changing risks around the Humber. You will manage and analyse data from a range of sources that will feed into the development of the new Strategy. You will advise the Humber 2100+ project team to help them understand the role this data has in informing how we implement change.

You will work with other members of the team to manage our relationships with partners and stakeholders as well as colleagues across the Environment Agency

This is a temporary role until the end of April 2022.
The Humber Strategy team is focused on the long term management of tidal flood risk around the Humber and tidal rivers and includes specialists in flood risk, the environment and coastal habitats, engagement, strategic planning and funding. We’re involved in a number of exciting Humber wide projects, including Humber2100+. We work closely with colleagues across the Environment Agency locally and nationally and with many partners and stakeholders.
We are seeking a confident individual with knowledge or experience of flood risk management.

Essential skills/experience:
• background in Flood and Coastal Risk Management
• experience using Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
• well organised and have good attention to detail
• ability to work under pressure, manages own workload and meet deadlines
• team player and works to support colleagues across a range of issues
• excellent verbal and written communication skills
• demonstrate when you have worked with and built successful relationships
• have problem solving skills that can be applied to a range of situations
• be keen and ready to learn
Desirable skills/experience:
• an understanding and appreciation of the benefits of managing flood risk strategically
• experience of using GIS to create maps and analyse data
• project management experience and/or involvement in larger project
• ability to analyse a wide range of data sets
