This is an exciting role, working as a specialist within a small team who manage communications and engagement for the Humber, with a particular focus on the new Humber tidal flood risk strategy (Humber 2100+). You will work with other members of the project team to plan and deliver communications and engagement activity to inform the development of the new strategy. This will involve producing engagement plans and supporting colleagues to deliver targeted engagement with our local authority partners and key stakeholders, as well as planning and delivering media and social media activity and internal communications. There will also be the opportunity to get involved with communication and engagement projects to increase wider community awareness of the risk of tidal flooding and the likely impacts of sea level rise on and around the Humber. This is a great opportunity for an experienced professional to work in a dynamic team, making a real contribution to managing the impacts of climate change.
The Humber Strategy team is focused on the long term management of tidal flood risk around the Humber and tidal rivers and includes specialists in flood risk, the environment and coastal habitats, engagement, strategic planning and funding. We’re involved in a number of exciting Humber wide projects, including Humber2100+. We work closely with colleagues across the EA locally and nationally and with many partners and stakeholders.
We’re looking for an experienced communications and/or engagement professional to lead on planning and delivering communications and engagement activity for the Humber team. You will:
- have a strong track record of working to communicate and engage with stakeholders and communities on challenging issues, using a range of appropriate channels and techniques
- have proven experience in building relationships with people within and outside your organisation, to support effective partnership working
- have excellent communication, influencing and networking skills

- be able to analyse and understand complex policy issues and identify the communications implications

- understand how communication and engagement activity can contribute to changing behaviour

- be able to manage your own work and deliver results in a fast paced and changeable environment
- work collaboratively to identify and resolve challenges
- manage, interpret and convey complex information clearly, effectively and sensitively
We are a friendly and inclusive team, based at a range of locations across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. We support our staff to do their work in a way that works for them and support flexible working, including job sharing. Although we are currently working remotely, we would expect the post holder to be based at one of our local offices and you would need to be able to easily access the Humber area.
