Environment Agency has a Net Zero Carbon (NZC) Target by 2030 and NZC Programme for Infrastructure (NZCP4I) will deliver projects to support this ambition. This work is a real opportunity to make a difference, and needs a passionate, committed, determined and persuasive, individual. With strong leadership and engagement skills to drive forward this transformational business change programme. Using your strong business planning, co-ordination and programme management skills, your experience of managing a team and building strong relationships with stakeholder groups, you will:

Deliver Net Zero Carbon Programme for Infrastructure. You will lead a small team of three, in delivering the financial, risk, resource, comms & engagement, scheduling and co-ordination activities.

Manage the NZC Programme Board, working with asset management governance groups in FCERM and E&B.

Coordinate activities with the Sustainable Business Team to ensure alignment with the corporate sustainability and net zero carbon plan.

Engage with FCRM Delivery Portfolio and asset management governance boards for resource planning, to maintain continuity of funding, and the agree priorities to deliver the programme

Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders both internal and external

Promote the NZC work of the EA in a positive way to influence the government and industry agenda on NZC.
The FCRM Directorate Asset Performance and Engineering team defines our strategic asset management outcomes. We support and work with the local Engineers and others to deliver the Asset Management Strategy by providing leadership, technical support and guidance. By identifying, sharing and embedding good practice across asset management nationally and internationally, this team helps to ensure that our assets and the third party assets we rely on perform as required and provide value for money.
You must be a credible figurehead within wider sustainability and carbon your ability to lead, influence and persuade people locally and nationally is essential. Your ability to communicate in a number of forms at a variety of levels and reason with others will be vital in this role.
You must have the ability to manage projects and a programme of works with good commercial and contract skill sets. With the ability to be adaptable and flexible in driving efficiency, innovation and quality within and for the wider programme. You will have an understanding of Environment Agency and our carbon reduction ambitions and how to support these. You must be able to work as part of a dispersed team.
The post is in a dispersed team. Working from home initially you may be required to travel regularly with occasional overnight stays, subject to COVID 19 restrictions.

You will support the national strategic management team during incidents. You will be encouraged to be part of the national asset management technical team rota, which requires some out of hours working.

Takes Decisions and Solves Problems
You will already be an experienced effective leader of major projects as Project Sponsor or Project Executive with experience of complex business projects and the techniques to manage them. You will be able to plan and manage a complex programme of work balancing short term priorities and longer term strategic aims.
