Lydney Harbour is a small unique asset located on the Severn Estuary in Lydney, Gloucestershire. We are seeking to appoint a Harbour Master to fulfil our legal duties as a Competent Harbour Authority.

Supported by a relevant background in navigation or similar, your will ensure we fulfil our statutory requirements. This public facing role will be responsible for the overall management and direction of the site, including lock operation, ensuring the safe passage of vessels and public safety risk assessments.

Working closely with our National Navigation Team and key stakeholders, you will have a key role in influencing the long term strategy of the site and support the implementation of new navigation standards. You will also support the professional delivery of Water, Land and Biodiversity asset management across West Midlands Area.
You will be part of a small team responsible for Navigation in West Midlands Area and work closely with staff across the wider department that support site operations during high tides.
• Experience or knowledge of navigation or similar operational sites
• Knowledge of mandatory, regulatory and safety responsibilities, including but not limited to the Port Marine Safety Code
• Proactive, self-motivated and a confident communicator
• Ability to build and sustain relationships
• Good IT skills
• Willing to work flexibly, including some evenings and weekends
• Able to work as part of a team

A full UK driving licence is essential.
Whilst this role is based at our Tewkesbury office, your regular and routine place of work will be at Lydney Harbour. Hours of work: 37 per week, delivered flexibly. This role is currently advertised as an 18 month assignment, with potential to be made permanent.
