We want someone who can provide leadership internally and externally, shape our priorities and develop our ambition. You will be a strategic thinker with experience of pushing boundaries and developing innovative approaches.

You will engage with teams across the Environment Agency and with partners to maximise opportunities for delivering environmental outcomes. The role is varied and draws on a range of skills, including:

• Having a strategic overview of issues and opportunities in your catchment
• Communicating priorities to a range of audiences
• Providing leadership internally through our Catchment Delivery Groups and externally through our Catchment Partnerships
• Bringing people together to identify opportunities for environmental improvements
• Being innovative and creative and working with others to develop a pipeline of projects
Currently this role sits within the Wessex Environment Programme Team in the Environment, Planning and Engagement Department, however the position will shortly move into a newly created Strategic Planning and Partnership Team. You will be joined by another Catchment Co-Ordinator that will cover the Somerset and Bristol Avon Catchments. The Environment, Planning and Engagement Department has a good reputation for working across functions and organisations to make a positive difference to people and the environment.
We're looking for candidates who are preferably degree qualified in an environmental discipline or hold equivalent experience. You'll need to demonstrate ability in the following areas:

• Strong organisational and interpersonal skills and a proven ability to communicate and influence at all levels
• Practical approach to problem solving
• Proactive approach and fresh perspective will ensure you’re always looking towards continuous improvement
• A proven track record of working with customers and delivering on time

You will need a valid driving licence as regular travel to partner offices and project sites will be required. Good knowledge of the local area, Water Framework Directive, River Basin Management Planning or external funding would also be desirable.
