We are looking for an experienced, innovative hydrologist with strong technical leadership to join our Wessex Hydrology team as a Technical Specialist.
The role of the Technical Specialist is pivotal to the delivery of our team’s work through:
• Coaching/mentoring of team members
• Delivery of bespoke/specialist water resources hydrological assessments/projects
• Communication of technical hydrology information to other teams and external customers
• Additional technical leadership for hydrology across Wessex area.

Join us as a Hydrology Technical Specialist and you’ll play an important role in ensuring that future generations inherit a cleaner, healthier environment.
The Hydrology team support water resources regulation and drought management. There will also be opportunities to get involved in flood management through incident response. We provide technical expertise and advice on a range of water resource management projects including Water Framework Directive, Catchment Abstraction Management Strategies, and Restoring Sustainable Abstraction programme and determining water resources permits. This is a dispersed team with team members based in the Blandford and Exeter office.
You’ll have a minimum of a degree (or equivalent relevant experience) in geography, environmental sciences or similar and ideally have an MSc (or equivalent relevant experience) in a subject related to hydrology.

You will have considerable experience of working within hydrology and water resources and have a proven track record of bespoke / specialist hydrology innovation. You will be able to provide strong technical leadership including successful, inspiring mentoring and coaching of others.
You will also need excellent communication skills, both written and verbal and the ability to work as part of a team. You will need to manage your own workload and meet tight deadlines.

You will also need to carry out site visits and travel between offices, so you will need a full UK driving licence.
