We are looking for an energetic, innovative and organised person to join the nuclear new build section of our Environment Programme team. You'll be the single point of contact to the new-build company on all technical work-streams necessary to ensure that they can submit an adequate Development Consent Order application and the environmental permit applications required to construct and operate a new nuclear power station. Ensuring high standards of environmental protection you'll coordinate a wide group of technical consultees, ensuring the company receives the appropriate advice and guidance needed to submit their applications. Working closely with Defra colleagues in Natural England and the Marine Management Organisation you will coordinate our positions to ensure that all advice and guidance to the company is complimentary and appropriate.

• Works collaboratively to build and sustain relationships, with colleagues, customers, stakeholders and professional partners
• Adept at coordinating others to provide timely, professionally packaged advice and guidance to the nuclear new build developer, so achieving protection for people and wildlife
The Environment Programme team engages with a wide range of professional partners, and interest groups, to secure the best possible environment outcomes – whilst supporting new energy infrastructure.

You'll join a positive, hard working team that takes pride in delivering results. We're continually developing our skills to become more business focussed and outcome orientated. You’ll need an understanding of the Nuclear New Build programme and be able to positively promote environmental improvements within this context.
Expected skills and experience include:

• Competent understanding of the planning system and environmental permitting regulations
• Knowledge of the political and economic drivers that could affect our ability to deliver environmental outcomes within the context of a substantial new nuclear power station project and associated developments
• A flexible, positive and enthusiastic attitude with excellent interpersonal skills to provide strong technical leadership, and to build - and maintain - relationships with customers and stakeholders
• Effective at influencing and negotiating
• Highly organised
• Ability to work in a high pressure/workload environment, managing multiple work streams at the same time

A full UK driving licence is essential.

You will be given all of the training and support you need to succeed, however for this role you should have a strong understanding of how the organisation operates and the role we play in significant infrastructure projects.

PLEASE NOTE - there is an expectation that you will work from the Ipswich Office 2 to 3 days each week, with flexibility to work from another office for the remaining days.

The grade rate is £34,879
Hours : 37 per week.
