Our aim is to manage our data and platforms in a consistent way ensuring all staff can easily use high quality data and information that will support insight-driven decision making, our environmental outcomes and our reputation.

We’re looking for an experienced Data and Information professional with strong business analysis skills to support the delivery of Data and IT project to help us to grow our understanding and vision for the future of how we manage data.

You will support the delivery of our Improving Data Management project to:
• Investigate the feasibility to move from managing data at a dataset level to a feature level, particularly to integrate our core reference lists and geographies.
• Capture what we learn from working with our own business leads and other organisations to identify user needs, best practice and evaluate data management approaches.
• Gather business requirements to support how we manage and use key 3rd party core reference data.
• Contribute to the development of a future roadmap and support the development of a business case to take this work forward.
• Support the Grade 6 lead in managing the project administration and working with others as part of a dynamic team.
The Data Management team is a national team and is part of Data and Systems with in the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Directorate. We are a centre of excellence for data management providing cross-cutting technical services, advice and guidance and helping to set the corporate direction for data management. Our work includes: Data Standards, Data Integration, GIS, Data Management and Model and Tools.
We’re seeking an individual who has successfully worked across teams to deliver work packages as part of a wider project. You have experience in capturing business requirements as user needs linking these to data management delivery. Ideally you will be good at problem solving, critical thinking and prioritising to help up identify opportunities for shaping our future data management roadmaps.

You will be able show how you have:
• Worked across teams using your networks, excellent communication and analytical skills to engage with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Established, understood and recorded user needs understanding how they support data management and business outcomes
• An understanding a range of data management approaches
• Worked in a structured way to support the delivery of projects milestones and deliver planned products and outputs.
• Been able to understand limitations and seek advice and guidance around a dataset process or subject if unsure.
The Data and Systems department is based in Horizon House in Bristol, so some travel to other Environment Agency Office across England will be required to help build your networks, engage with other teams and support project delivery.
