We are looking for a professional individual with knowledge and experience of regulating in the waste industry. You will be joining our Waste Regimes Operational Services (WROS) team working in the International Waste Shipments (IWS) team with a specific focus on International Waste Repatriations.
Support, guide and provide technical leadership to colleagues and the wider business by providing training, guidance & technical support on the waste repatriations the Environment Agency have responsibility for in this high-risk area.
The successful candidate will work collaboratively across a range of internal departments as well as overseas competent authorities ensuring all waste repatriation work is delivered within the regulations, in a timely manner, whilst exploring all options to successfully repatriate waste at the cost of those committing the regulatory offences.
Providing specialist guidance to operational teams/customers, keep up to date with changing legislation/best practice, undertaking enforcement action where necessary
Candidates who benchmark for this role put are unsuccessfully may be place in a pool to be considered for further roles within a 6 month period
Through environmental regulation, WROS divert several million tonnes of waste from landfill by supporting industry, business and public bodies to take responsibility for waste produced, imported, sold and used.
To ensure the UK complies with regulations we:
• issue advice and guidance
• register producer and compliance scheme obligations
• permit operators to issue evidence of recovery/recycling
• risk profile compliance monitoring
• investigate, pursue and prosecute offenders through either criminal or enforcement undertakings/civil sanctions
• Interpretation of data and information to develop plans
• Collaborative team working with colleagues outside of your business unit.
• The ability to influence customers to achieve beneficial outcomes outcomes
• A great communicator with excellent time management, data management and interpersonal skills, presenting facts verbally and in writing;
• Experience of working with Microsoft packages is essential.
• Experience of working with and carrying out regulation of legislation is desirable
A flexitime scheme is available for this role. The role location is flexible but some national travel may be required.
