Do you want a career you can feel proud of? The Area Programme Team is at the heart of enabling the Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) capital spend programme which creates new and maintains existing flood risk management assets to make a better place for people and wildlife.
We secure funding, and track spend, delivery and performance outcomes, reporting to Regional Flood and Coastal Committee, EA teams and local partners. We provide information on the status of the programme, including risks and opportunities on a wide range of measures including properties better protected and habitats created.
We are looking for a motivated individual to fill a Flood Risk Programme Officer role. The role will support the Area's contribution to the National FCRM capital programme; we’re investing £5.2 billion between 2021 and 2027 across England to reduce flood risk to 336,000 properties.

Activities include; providing support and advice to ensure programmes are shaped to deliver; reporting and analysis of programme performance in view of financial, efficiency and outcome measure targets; using our IT systems to their full potential.
The role will work collaboratively with a range of internal and external partners.
This role sits within the Devon, Cornwall and Isles of Scilly FCRM Programme Team and forms a core part of a virtual Area Programme Team with colleagues from FCRM, Operations Delivery, Finance and Programme & Contract Management in order to develop, manage and deliver the FCRM programme. The role also forms part of a national Programme Community, working with colleagues across England, contributing to a 'one business approach'.
We are seeking a team player who will have an ability to demonstrate the following:
- An enthusiasm for accurate recording and reporting of data with good numeracy.
- Has strong, effective communication skills (written, graphical and verbal) and a proven ability to work with others across teams locally and nationally in the delivery of outcomes.
- Is agile and innovative and will embrace change to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Strong ability to analyse, interpret and present data to deadlines.
- Attention to detail balanced with pragmatism and an understanding and interest in contributing to the Environment Agency’s strategic goals.
- The key thing we are looking for is enthusiasm and willingness to learn. Experience in flood risk management isn’t necessary, so if you feel you have the transferrable skills for this role we would like to hear from you.
For further information on the role please contact Julie Dunstan, DCIS Area Programme Team Leader (acting) julie.dunstan@environment-agency.gov.uk

Location: The team is based in Exeter and Bodmin. This role is currently being carried out as a hybrid arrangement between office and home-based working, with a phased return to offices. Travel will be required between Exeter, Bodmin and elsewhere for external meetings to support project managers and colleagues across DCIS
