The role of Project Support Officer provides an exciting opportunity to be part of an integrated team that is driving our aspirations to be exemplar in asset and programme management and tackling the impact of climate change. As part of a collaborative team, you’ll be involved in award-winning work where you will be working closely with others across the Environment Agency, the wider Defra group, statutory bodies, our supply partners, businesses, and communities, leaving a valuable legacy for the future.
Through our ‘Next Generation Supplier Arrangement’ programme we have implemented a commercial framework that brings together collaborative arrangements with our suppliers. In establishing geographically based collaborative delivery hubs we have integrated teams from across the Environment Agency (EA) and our suppliers to manage, design and construct programmes of work on infrastructure assets. Further development of our new ways of working will enable a greater opportunity to innovate, optimise resources, drive shared ambition and outcomes, and put sustainability at the heart of everything we do.
The National Programme and Contract Management (PCM) team sits within the relatively new Major Projects and Programme Delivery (MPPD) department. It has been designed to provide leadership and centres of excellence in project and programme delivery for the Environment Agency’s ambitious strategies, plans and portfolios.
You will join the PCM Team co-locating with teams from across the Environment Agency (EA) and our supplier delivery partners to deliver and/or oversee national programmes of work.
A-Level standard or equivalent qualifications are desirable. PRINCE2 Foundation or APM Foundation is an advantage. It’s important you’re confident in MS Office too. However, while time spent in project support or project management will help, more important is your interest in the work and exceptional talent for organisation and planning.
This role interacts with many different contacts across the Environment Agency, so it’s also important that you’re positive, enjoy helping colleagues, promoting collaboration and take pride in your work.
The location is flexible, however there may be the need for occasional travel and overnight stays as the team is dispersed.
