As Senior Project Manager, you will play a prominent role within our high performing and collaborative Project teams. You’ll have complete accountability for some of our most impressive and challenging projects, often focused on our flood risk asset management programme. You will be a role model as a talented expert who is a trusted source of advice. You will be a dedicated mentor and hold a business portfolio in an area you are passionate about. You will also have demonstrated exceptional commercial acumen in contract management and developing effective and trusting supply partner relationships.

Naturally, you will build excellent collaborative relationships, shaping thinking at the initial strategic planning phase all the way into implementation, construction, and delivery, with project executive experience essential. Your role as an outstanding communicator, collaborator and influencer will be critical to the success of the high performing teams, leading and inspiring the integrated project team including our supply partners.

The variety of the role is wide and exciting; leading multimillion-pound contract negotiations one day, talking to local communities the next. The role will involve key contract management activities, report writing, cost monitoring and forecasting, feasibility assessment, outline design, environmental management, and construction management.
We are the Wessex Area facing Programme and Contracts Management team (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management. You will become part of an award-winning team that provides areas, alongside national services, and centres, with an effective project and programme management service. Our dedicated, well-qualified teams manage projects throughout their lifecycle to deliver environmental improvements, adding value and resulting in a greater sense of shared ownership with local communities.
You will have a relevant degree in civil engineering, environmental science or geography, and an impressive history in both contract and project management. Ideally, you will have experience working on civil engineering projects and be a natural innovator, expert negotiator, and champion of good practice.
You’ll have extensive project management and project executive experience or undertaken a similar role within your organisation where you were responsible & accountable for developing the strategic program, project goals and monitoring program and project performance within tolerances. You will have a project management qualification such as PRINCE2 or APM, ideally at practitioner level and will be a member of a related professional body. You’ll demonstrate your exceptional track record in delivering complex projects with high risk factors and show us your excellent leadership skills along with a natural ability to bring big-picture thinking that improves behaviours and processes with the people you work with.
Whilst initially the roles will be remote working from home in line with government guidance, we have team members in Exeter, Bristol, Blandford, and Bridgwater and are happy to consider applications from people wanting to be based in any of those offices.
Driving licence ideally required as some driving may be necessary. Occasional travel (regionally or nationally) and overnight stays required.
For further information contact Nol Vincent via email nol.vincent@environment-agency.gov.uk.
CVs or other documents attached to your application will not be assessed for selection.
