We have a vacancy for an organised individual to join the North East area in the role of Area Income Advisor.

You will:
• Lead for the Area on income and debt recovery, using your business and finance knowledge
• Influence and motivate people to increase our debt recovery through exemplar practices, skills, and behaviours.
• Provide a high standard of data management, recording and reporting skills, which are an essential part of this role.
• Apply effective ways of working to maximise our current regulatory cost recovery service, developing increasing commercial focus to the role to find new opportunities to recover money.
• Show awareness of business changes and developments
• Be actively involved with the Income Advisor network and have strong links to our National Income Service team.

Your ability to gain a wide understanding of the business will be essential in prioritising your activity, identifying, and capitalising on potential opportunities.
Based in our Executive Support Team, your work will require interaction with teams across the Area, from regulated industry to flood and coastal risk management and with external customers and stakeholders. You will also be part of a national network of income advisors to identify funding opportunities, good practice and share learning.
You will work closely with the area's two Executive Coordination Managers and Area Director's PA supporting the the Area Director and her team.

As area income advisor, you will identify opportunities to maximise income through debt recovery or charging schemes that are in line with business priorities, putting in place plans and processes to secure those financial resources. You will need to build an understanding of how costs are allocated and how the Environment Agency’s cost recovery and cost allocation schemes function. Using this knowledge, you will need to advise on how we can maintain and maximise income from internal and external business partners.
