The Oxford to Cambridge Arc Team offers unique opportunities to test and trial innovative new approaches to enable green growth, investment, and environmental improvement.

The Project Manager will drive delivery of our flagship project, Integrated Water Management Framework, among others, and will be pivotal to the effective running of our team, supporting colleagues to secure positive environmental outcomes.

Key tasks include:
•Undertaking the role of Project Manager on the Integrated Water Management Framework project
•Identifying, procuring, and managing relationships with suitable contractors to meet the needs of the team in line with Environment Agency standards
•Monitoring, reviewing, and reporting regularly to the Programme Manager on project finances, scope, resource, risks, opportunities, and deliverables
•Applying project planning techniques and setting milestones to ensure work is delivered on time to expected standards
•Supporting the team’s communication and engagement activities with partners and stakeholders, delivering messages to internal or external audiences, leading workshops and webinars, and positively promoting the work of the team and wider Environment Agency
•Providing project support to the wider team
•Ensuring that a natural capital approach and environmental improvement is at the heart of all projects led or sponsored by the team, supporting its integration into plans and strategies
Our team works with colleagues from across the four operational areas within the Arc, our national teams, Defra Group colleagues, and local stakeholders. We share skills and learning, working to maximise opportunities to test and trial new approaches, tools, and mechanisms to change the way that growth, our natural capital assets, and resources are planned for and protected for future generations to support realisation of 25 Year Environment Plan goals within the OxCam Arc.
We are looking for a proactive and motivated self-starter, with a flexible attitude. You will need to be organised and thrive in a fast changing environment.
The key skills and/or experience we require are:
•Recognised project management qualification or equivalent industry experience
•Experience of managing budgets and project schedules
•Experience of all project life cycle stages
•Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers and partners
•Ability to motivate project teams and to generate enthusiasm about our work when engaging with others
•The ability to prioritise workload and adapt to tight and changeable deadlines
•Experience of positively engaging with internal and external partners
•An understanding of natural capital and how a natural capital approach can be applied to projects
•An understanding of the principles and ambitions set out in the 25 Year Environment Plan
•Experience of using the Environment Agency’s procurement frameworks and project management systems is preferable but not essential
The role is office based, however as a dispersed team location is flexible. Our work occurs primarily virtually, so regular homeworking is available. Travel to London, our offices and other venues within the OxCam Arc will be required.

We are fully committed to having a diverse and inclusive workforce and welcome flexible working patterns, including job share.
