We're looking for a proactive, creative and people focused person to join the National Strategic Environment Planning team in the Water Strategy and Partnerships team, part of Water Land of Biodiversity.

If you're looking to apply your environment planning knowledge and experience in a national team, our team is a brilliant place for you to develop and shape how the Environment Agency works from a different perspective.

We need an experienced environment planner who can:
1. Support the coordination and delivery of the overall environment planning work plan by the business
2. Maintain and improve communications and work planning between environment planners from across the business
3. Support the reporting, development and wider use of the information we collect under ‘km enhanced’
The team has a broad remit to develop and steer how we do Environment Planning. Key work areas include:
• Setting the strategy and direction for evidence based Environment Planning
• River basin planning and modified waters, including updating the river basin management plans
• Technical and management networks to improve delivery of environment planning
• Providing business support through the Planning Support Tool, weekly Planning Channel and quarterly reporting on Km Enhanced
You will need:
• A sound understanding of environment planning and the diverse tasks it involves, including experience of the Catchment Planning System and River Basin Planning
• Excellent communication skills. Not just writing, but refining and improving messages to make them clear and effective
• Experience of managing and interpreting qualitative and quantitative data
• Confidence with using Excel and other Office applications
• Proactive problem solving skills. Influencing how we deliver work and change is a key element of the role
• Networking skills: Building and maintaining relationships with environment planning colleagues across the business and at all levels is vital
You will be working as part of a dispersed team, so occasional travel to meetings in Birmingham and Bristol and other offices will be required, with some overnight stays included.
