This is an exciting opportunity to join the dynamic and progressive Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire management team during a period of change. The postholder will be responsible for leading and directing the Environment Agency's contribution to the Northern Powerhouse initiative. This will involve building, maintaining and managing key stakeholder relationships with senior counterparts in GMMC and across the Northern Powerhouse area.
Passionate and committed, the postholder will ensure that the environment is considered and valued in all development plans and growth agendas, particularly in strategic projects and major infrastructure investments across the North.

The post holder will deliver the further evolution of our work associated with the Northern Powerhouse, integrating sustainability and environment programming into the development and governance of the devolved and devolving Northern Cities. They will improve and support prioritised work programmes with appropriate advice, guidance and tools. In so doing, the post holder will actively maintain, improve and develop customer relationships within Operations - Area Managers, EPE Managers, National teams, and work with DEFRA colleagues to further enhance existing external relationships.
The post holder will report to the Area Manager and be a full member of the Area Management Team with additional staff resources associated with time-limited projects. Initially the post does not have direct reports but this may change.
The role requires you to be an engaging leader with the ability to share and influence, so an awareness of the work of the Environment Agency and its aspirations and achievements is essential.
You'll have demonstrable experience of delivering results through others, and be able to build a wide range of relationships with our internal and external customers.

Travel across the North and some national travel will be required; some out of hours work may be required to attend events.
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an incident management role.

Driving licence required
