Operational Delivery
Maintain and manage one of the largest groundwater pumping schemes owned by the EA, 32 pumping stations, 4 major outfalls, 87km of pipeline and boreholes up to 140m deep. The scheme adds water flows in the River Thames during a drought. It also has a role to play during floods. We need a grade 5 advisor to manage the scheme, including practical hands on Mechanical Electrical Instrumentation Control Automation (MEICA) maintenance work, management of contractors, project management, record keeping, communication and liaison with internal EA teams and external stakeholders.
This operational instruction sets out the specification to be followed by all Environment Agency staff and contractors dealing with MEICA equipment, plant, systems and other assets. Supplementary documents cover requirements for specific MEICA equipment, plant, systems and other assets.
This specification defines the minimum technical requirements for the design, construction, inspection and testing of MEICA equipment, plant, systems and other assets with the latest editions of BS and EN standards.
You’ll have a relevant degree or alternative qualifications from a mechanical & electrical background. It’s important that you’re skilled at managing multiple priorities and competing demands and have field experience. First-class communication skills are a must, and you also understand the importance of teamwork and collaboration. In fact, you’ll be able to show where you’ve worked with others to deliver success. You’ll be an intelligent problem solver too, with a methodical work approach. You should also have a full driving licence.
