This role in in the Integrated Environment Planning Team. The primary focus of the role will be to lead Water Framework Directive Planning (WFD) for the Area
You'll provide direction on the work of the Integrated Environment Planning team, by using data, intelligence, technical knowledge and judgement to identify actions to deliver environmental improvement; to secure delivery of these actions by coordinating or providing technical input to plans, reports and other communications and negotiating resource from internal delivery teams; to build and maintain productive and influential relationships with external customers and partners.

Your main work areas will be;
• Working with other IEP teams nationally to ensure we are working to best practice
• Coordinating the Area WFD investigation programme. This involves working closely with all area teams and with our partners. The purpose of the programme is to understand why waterbodies aren’t achieving good and then to find ways of improving these waterbodies
• Ensuring the Catchment Planning System is accurate and up to date
• Ensuring that Area teams and managers understand our WFD commitments and what is required to deliver them
You'll join a team of 11 people based in the North East Area. The team cover a wide range of disciplines including, Water Quality, Water Resources, Regulated Business and Water Framework Directive. We provide technical and professional support to internal teams and our partners to ensure delivery of our Area Plan and environmental priorities. We provide information to colleagues and external partners to influence action taken to achieve the right environmental outcomes.
Educated to degree level and with equivalent qualifications and experience.

Experience of translating internal guidance and instructions into local delivery

Experience of using evidence and analysis to explore problems and propose effective and innovative solutions

Proven communication, influencing and networking skills

Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, partners and communities, including the ability to translate technical issues into non-technical language
Experience of prioritising and delivering work within a programme and project management framework
This is a fixed term post for 6 months.

The grade rate for the role is £33,990 (pro-rata).
