As a member of the Flood Risk Management Team in Hertfordshire and North London you will provide support to our flood incident management and warning services, contribute to flood resilience engagement with local communities, manage flood risk information in line with current Environment Agency process, and provide information to customers in a timely manner. Working in either our Flood Resilience or Partnership and Strategic overview teams, your varied workload will support other members of the team to:

- ensure systems and resources are in place to enable duty staff to respond to incidents
- maintain flood incident procedures and deliver training and exercising to staff
- maintain our flood warning systems to ensure data is accurate and up-to-date
- engage with local communities to improve their resilience to flooding
- respond to statutory consultations for works that may cause an increase in flood risk
- support the development and delivery of our flood risk capital programme
- respond to requests for flood risk data and information
Our Flood Resilience team ensures we are resilient and ready for flood incidents by maintaining our flood warning and incident management systems and procedures; delivering training and exercising to staff, and working with comminutes and partners to prepare for floods. Our Partnerships and Strategic Overview teams’ role is to understand and manage flood and coastal erosion risk through responding to planning applications, sourcing funding for projects, providing flood risk data and permitting activity near rivers.
You will:
- have an understanding of flood risk and incident management
- be well organised, with attention to detail to ensure tasks are completed on time and to a high standard
- be self-motivated, working well as part of a team and individually
- have an understanding of customer needs and be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences
- have competent IT and data skills; experience of GIS software would be beneficial
