As Senior Advisor, you’ll develop schemes that reduce flood risk to people and property and ensure that they are delivered to programme. You will have experience of developing Property Flood Resilience schemes across complex rural catchments.

You will work closely with key stakeholders to identify beneficiaries and potential external funding contributors to your projects. You will be expected to lead negotiations to secure partnership funding enabling these projects to proceed. You will be the face of the Environment Agency for high profile projects drawing on your wealth of expertise in this area.

You will lead by example providing excellent technical and strategic support to team members in the delivery of their projects.

At the Environment Agency, our Flood and Coastal Risk Management (FCRM) department plays a huge part in the work we do, helping to reduce flood risk to people and property. Within FCRM sit our Partnership & Strategic Overview teams, who are responsible for setting the strategic direction for all flood and coastal risk management activities. In this role, you’ll play a major part in helping to protect the homes and lives of residents from flooding.
You’ll have excellent knowledge of flood risk management including an aptitude for managing commercial and political aspects of this work. Experience of managing flood risk in complex rural catchments would be an advantage with outstanding interpersonal skills, confidence in building relationships with external partners and internal teams, be committed to working collaboratively to achieve goals.

You’ll have a proven track record of delivering Property Level Resilience schemes with a can-do attitude and be dedicated to overcoming obstacles in delivery of projects.

Able to analyse complex data sets and with experience of using outputs from the latest fluvial modelling techniques.

In addition to your degree (or equivalent) in environmental or engineering discipline, it is desirable that you belong to either the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) or equivalent (or committed to achieving this). Along with at least 8 years relevant post graduate experience.
The role will be based in Orchard House, Addington, West Malling. Interviews will be held week commencing 15th January 2018.

Occasional travel throughout the area is expected. Therefore a full driving licence is required.

The Environment Agency is a Category 1 responder. You'll be expected to participate in our incident response and have a role in an incident, which may include out of hours working.
