With a specific focus on water quality you'll provide technical leadership and direction to the work of the Integrated Environment Planning team and broader organisation. You'll, by using data, intelligence, technical knowledge and judgement ,identify actions to deliver environmental improvement. You'll secure delivery of these actions by coordinating, influencing or providing technical input to plans, reports and other communications and negotiating resource from internal delivery teams; to build and maintain productive and influential relationships with external customers and partners; to lead and/or provide specialist advice to working groups and local projects; to provide specialist advice to senior managers and facilitate resolution of complex or contentious issues.
The Integrated Environment Planning Team in Ipswich is one of two teams covering most of East Anglia, our role is to provide , analyse and plan with the evidence to prioritise the work of others (internally and externally) to ensure the maximum benefit for the Environment. The team is made up of 4 officers who are multifunctional and 7 who are specialists in Water Resources, Waste, Water Quality, River basin Planning and Integrated Environmental Planning.
Ability to demonstrate leadership in a specialist technical area (Water Quality)
Good knowledge of the technical principles of Water Quality Planning, processes and procedures used to deliver improvements.
Experience of translating internal guidance and instructions into local delivery
Experience of using evidence and analysis to explore problems and propose effective and innovative solutions
Proven communication, influencing and networking skills
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, customers, partners and communities, including the ability to translate technical issues into non-technical language
Experience of prioritising and delivering work within a programme and project management framework
Evidence of working in cross-functional teams to achieve results for the benefit of both the specific function or project and the wider organisation.
Able to coach and mentor others to increase experience and resilience within the environment planning community.
The grade rate for the role is £33,990.

River Basin Planning
A good knowledge of the principles behind river basin planning and how it is used to influence others to deliver environmental improvements.
Scientific Knowledge
Very good technical knowledge of water quality issues including what impacts on surface water quality (point and diffuse sources) causes and remedial actions. Knowledge of the Water Company asset planning process.

Able to show a clear record of delivering outcomes to a high standard and within required timeframes

Ability to coach others and share knowledge to deliver outcomes for the business
