Providing a Professional Incident Response is our top priority.
This role will primarily support the ongoing complex management of the Flood Warning Service across Solent and South Downs Area. Ensuring that Flood warnings are relevant, timely and that both communities and partners know how to respond to flooding is key to the Team’s success.
The Resilience Team work to ensure that incidents are managed effectively across Solent and South Downs Area. We maintain the Flood Warning Service, train and exercise duty staff and maintain a wide range of emergency response procedures. Importantly, we raise public awareness of flooding and ensure that professional partners and communities understand their flood risk and are able to respond.
To take on this exciting role we are looking for someone with the following skills;

* A self -starter, excellent communicator, keen to learn, able to effectively prioritise workload.
* Ability to use GIS and perform GIS queries.
* Data analysis and data management.
* A quick learner with new IT systems and a good IT Technical knowledge, including database management spreadsheet development and producing and delivering PowerPoint presentations.
* Able to work as part of a team and across multiple teams in Flood Risk Management.
Comfortable with communicating to a wide range of audiences both inside and outside the organisation.
* An understanding of incident management along with the types of modelled output data used to run the flood warning service would also be desirable.
Location: Preferably Romsey but some working from Chichester or Worthing would be considered.

Hours of work: 37 hours, Fixed term contract.

The successful applicant will be expected to take part in the Area’s incident response capability and where appropriate be on a standby duty role. There will be a requirement to assist with community engagement activities and this may include occasional evening or weekend work.
