The Environment Agency is looking to appoint an officer to support flood and coastal risk management (FRCM) in Yorkshire. The post, which is funded through the local levy raised by the Yorkshire Flood and Coastal Committee (YRFCC), is intended to help support and complement the work of local authorities in their role as local lead flood authorities (LLFA). The overall purpose of the post is to provide support and coordination to help shape and facilitate the overall delivery of FRCM, specifically to ensure that the best use is made of the local levy programme (collective funding provided by LLFAs) within the Yorkshire region. Working flexibly, and across LLFAs, responding to their needs and achieving effective engagement with them, will be critical to the success of the role. The post is available for 2 years in the first instance. The initial focus of the post will be to support risk management authorities in their input into Yorkshire Water's asset management plan for 2019 (PR19).
Our Partnership and Strategic Overview teams develop the technical knowledge needed to deliver a strategic overview of flooding, providing compelling evidence to support our vital Flood Resilience work. We work flexibly and closely with partners to understand and manage flood and coastal erosion risk in order to benefit communities with the greatest need. We work with all authorities and deliverers to specify, plan, fund and create assets to achieve outcomes
You will have a background of delivery of successful projects and or programmes of work, ideally in a flood or water management context. You will also be able to demonstrate an ability to develop partnerships and engender collaborative working. A knowledge of the Flood & Water Management Act and the water industry's asset management planning process are essential requirements of the role. You will have a degree in a relevant discipline and are likely to be working towards chartered status. You will be proficient in the use of standard MS Office packages including MS Project. GIS skills would also be an advantage.
The job will be based in Lateral House, Leeds.

-As part of your role with FCRM you will be required to take part in incident response. Your line manager will confirm the specific arrangements with you depending on your role.
