Within Operations Field Services, you’ll work with and lead teams to manage river and coastal defences, working to counteract the causes of flooding and pollution.

You’ll be the lead team member on sites, ensuring everyone works efficiently and safely delivering routine maintenance for our assets. This physical role involves working outside in all weathers. We undertake a range of activities, from strimming, debris and tree clearance to construction and maintenance.

We act quickly when emergencies occur. You’ll take part in a call out rota, leading teams to respond and operate our assets such as pumps, sluices and flood gates.

As an LTM 3 you will be expected to manage and over see contractors and operational systems on behalf of the whole team across Cumbria and Lancashire.
The Operations Field Service teams are based at depots across Cumbria and Lancashire. We deliver a maintenance programme on rivers and watercourse across the area, we respond to flooding and environmental incidents both day and night. We provide advice and support to our colleagues in Asset Performance, Hydrometrics, Biodiversity and Environment Management.

We also work across the country when called upon to assist other areas in incident response and environmental incidents.
You should demonstrate a positive, adaptable approach and a ‘can do’ attitude as a worthy team player. Organisational skills and ability to work under pressure during incidents are essential. You must understand site health and safety requirements and you’ll need effective communication skills to work with customers and partners. You will also need to coach and encourage others on site.

Ideally you’ll have a level of environmental awareness. Experience with tablet computers and familiarity with mobile technology will be useful.

The ideal candidate will have leadership experience and a foundation of practical skills like concreting and minor construction work.
The grade rate for this role is £ 20,041 for LTM2 and £22,336 for LTM3

A full valid driving licence is essential
