We’re looking for a visionary Director Service Transformation to join our team.
You will be creative and decisive, with strong values, confident and committed to inclusively leading the development and execution of our transformation ambitions. You will fundamentally change the way we do business, making the most of opportunities from data and technology to enable the adoption of a services led approach, which is essential to the Agency’s strategic transformation ambitions. You will make a big difference to our staff and customers as our end users by delivering modernised services.
You will be a strategic thinker with the ability to translate this into tangible outcomes. This will require you to effectively collaborate and influence internally and externally which are key parts of this role. You’ll provide outstanding leadership and foster a culture of innovation and adaptability within the organisation and across Defra departments.
You will:
• Have a record of organisation wide delivery, managing complex stakeholder arrangements, multi-disciplinary teams.
• Demonstrate service led transformation, involving, processes, systems, digital and data to improve business delivery and efficiency.
• Have a commercial mind focusing on return on investment and benefits realisation.
• Be committed to innovation, willing to try new things and manage risks accordingly.
• Translate strategy into action, building consensus and influencing stakeholders.
Responding to incidents is central to what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. Full training will be available.

You will report to the Executive Director of STA, and form part of a welcoming and committed team of senior leaders. You will be a member of our broader community of executive managers, and our national Director’s forum.
You’ll manage senior leaders and a diverse workforce across the UK, strong management and inclusive leadership skills are must-haves. Your own team will include Deputy Directors and a small executive office.

• Embed sustainable digital capability across the EA to increase staff awareness of digital approaches and tools.
• Set the strategic direction for EA’s services and data.
• Lead and oversee the EA’s cohesive approach to service transformation including the evolving relationship with EA and Defra Group, on issues of digital sustainability, capability, and service transformation. Working to forge links to the Central Digital and Data Office (CDDO).
• A strong understanding of effective crisis management and the willingness to learn how to manage national or large-scale incidents and emergencies.
• Create an inclusive road map for digitally led transformation, building on data, resulting in a data driven organisation, enabling automation and evidence-based decision making.
• Embed sustainable digital capability across the EA to increase staff awareness of digital approaches and tools.
