This post-holder will take the lead for FCRM on translating policy ideas about catchment approaches into practice. They will help the Environment Agency and our partners take an effective and joined-up approach to managing floods and coastal risks and improving the water environment.

The post holder will:
1. lead on links for FCRM with the "catchment based approach" partnerships, helping to strengthen their capacity to contribute to FCRM
2. support development of the FCRM strategy, ensuring that integrated "catchment approaches" described in it help implement 25 YEP aspirations
3. advise Defra policy teams and ensure that aspirations for a joined-up, catchment based approach to water and floods are practical, efficient and lead to good FCRM and environmental outcomes
4. implement the agreed principles of "integrated planning", ensuring a joined-up approach to engagement and driving improvements in data and tools that can be used to agree and fund strategic actions with multiple benefits
5. support the NFM programme, helping to make strategic improvements such as use of agri-environment funding and contributions from water companies
The integrated outcomes team brings our Flood Risk management and Water/Land/Biodiversity functions in the Environment Agency together to help achieve more for people and wildlife. We lead on more integrated approaches to Flood Risk Management and River Basin Planning and on our corporate approach to Natural Flood Management.

Has a good understanding of the planning frameworks for flood risk and the water environment in England. Has experience of working with stakeholders involved in "the catchment based approach" and/or with practitioners in the statutory planning authorities to develop plans that lead to flood risk and environmental improvements.
