Hydrometry and Telemetry Level 2 Officers are directly responsible for Water Resource and Flood and Coastal Risk Management Hydrometric monitoring sites in Kent and South London. The role provides the vital support in ensuring the timely availability of historical and real-time river level, flow, rainfall and groundwater data to the Environment Agency. The role supports the delivery of integrated Hydrometry & Telemetry services and ensures that accurate and timely data, alarms and information is provided to our customers.
The team is based at the Medway House office near Tonbridge. The Hydrometry and Telemetry team provide core telemetry, hydrometric data to the Environment Agency. The team collects data across the Kent and South London Area. Our team covers the South London Rivers as well as the Mole, Darent, Rother, Stour and Medway.
You will ideally have a scientific background and be educated to at least degree or NVQ standard. You'll be passionate about the environment and enjoy using your skills to make a difference. With strong practical problem solving skills, you'll be experienced in managing large quantities of data. You should be happy to work in the field often in demanding poor weather conditions all year round. You should have a full UK driving Licence and be able to swim 25m.
