Within this role you will be responsible for providing an efficient support service to the Wessex Flood & Coastal Committee on behalf of the Wessex Area, working with the Committee Chair, the Area Director, Area Flood and Coastal Risk Manager, National Teams and Board Secretariat as required.

Key activities to support the committee will include:

• Act as the Secretariat for all committee meetings and sub groups.
• Maintain relationships with external stakeholders (Environment Agency appointees, local councillors, and Local Authority flood risk officers).
• Act as the central point of contact for engagement with Committee members.
• Lead on the recruitment and induction of new members to your Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.
• Lead for the Area on overall governance of the Committee in line with relevant legislation, and DEFRA Cabinet Office guidelines.

In addition, you will support the Wessex Programming Team in the management of the Wessex Capital Programme. This will involve tracking project expenditure and performance, analysing data and preparing reports, and supplying information to internal and external customers.
The Programme Team tracks spending, delivery and performance in completing programmes to create new flood defences, repair and maintain defences. We advise on the status of the programme, risks and opportunities. We also supply information to national teams, brief communities, politicians and partners on progress, and provide Secretariat support to the Wessex Regional Flood and Coastal Committee.
We are looking for candidates who have demonstrable ability in the following areas:

Essential:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Able to build strong working relationships with external partners.
• Experience of providing consistent high quality service.
• Knowledge/experience of Microsoft Office including Word, Power Point and Excel.
• A proven record of working with customers and delivering on time.

Desirable

• Knowledge of the Environment Agency and its work.
• Experience of supporting a Committee.
• Experience of managing and analysing data.

The successful candidate will need to travel to various Environment Agency offices, and to Committee Venues so you will need a full driving licence.

The post is a permanent position.
Grade Rate: £27,138.
Location: Our Blandford Forum or Bridgwater offices.
A full driving licence is required.
