We are looking to appoint a talented and enthusiastic individual to join our Groundwater and Contaminated Land Team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for protecting and enhancing the groundwater environment across the varied geology of Devon & Cornwall. Providing hydrogeological advice on abstraction licensing, landfill operations, mining, and development of contaminated land, you will be adept at turning technical detail into easily understood and compelling arguments.
You will be part of a team of technical specialists who work together on groundwater resource and quality issues. We provide technical advice to a broad range of customers to mitigate the risks to groundwater.
Based in Exeter, you will have colleagues and customers across the Area so will need to travel to other offices and undertake site visits as necessary.
We will support your continuing development through training and membership of professional bodies.
You will be qualified to at least degree level in a relevant geosciences subject such as geology or be able to demonstrate equivalent experience of the subject matter in an academic or vocational setting.

You will be an excellent communicator and able to demonstrate how you have influenced and communicated effectively with experts in their field, members of the public, and specialists from other technical fields.

You will be able to articulate how you undertake multi-dimensional conceptualisation of the sub-surface and apply that knowledge within the legislative framework.

You will have strong IT skills and have experience across a range of systems including GIS, spreadsheets, databases, and groundwater models.

You will manage and prioritise workload according to risks, focussing on the best environmental outcome, thinking innovatively and improving the way we work.

You will have a full UK driving licence.
