Supporting the Customer and Engagement Specialists and Area Leadership Team within Kent, South London and East Sussex (KSLES) and working closely with your colleagues, you will provide a high level of service across the Area supporting proactive engagement and relationship management.

You will be working across the business communicating with our key communities and stakeholders. Supporting with political and community engagement and public relations for flood risk projects and issues of public interest. This means that you will actively network and build strong relationships within the Environment Agency and with partner organisations. Having great face to face, written and verbal communication skills will be key to your success in this role.

Working with our internal teams and using plain English, you’ll be coordinating and writing our responses to proactive correspondence. You will be able to identify risks to our reputation and spot good stakeholder engagement opportunities. You will assist in producing materials for and helping to deliver events across the breadth of the environment agencies work.
Customers and Engagement are an enthusiastic and motivated team working with others to deliver excellent customer service. We are the heartbeat of the area, supporting the business by managing relationships with communities, the general public, MPs and internal customers such as the Area Director, Chairman and Board.

Managing a diverse range of requests from active and informed customers it’s essential to provide support and guidance to allow us to be an open and transparent organisation.
We’re seeking a Customers and Engagement Officer with excellent networking skills, someone who can build and sustain relationships with our internal/external customers. With the following desired attributes:

• excellent verbal/written communication skills (specifically editing and proof-reading);
• an understanding of/or interest in, the current political environment;
• a proven ability to build and sustain relationships;
• an enthusiastic/proactive problem solver
• the ability to work unsupervised and as part of a team;
• the ability to find innovative solutions to complex issues;
• the ability to work flexibly, manage your own workload and meet tight deadlines.

A minimum of two years’ experience in a communications, public relations and stakeholder engagement role is desirable. A bachelor degree in a communications or similar subject would be an advantage but is not necessary.

Other key requirements for this job include proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, along with good organisational skills and customer focus.
The role will be based in Orchard House, West Malling, Kent and interviews will be held on week commencing W/C 12 August 2019.

The Salary range will be £27,572 - £33,869, dependant on experience.
