We are looking for a technical advisor to provide specialist interpretation of water quality investigation data and provide advice and guidance to the client.

You will provide this to a wide range of customers both internal and external to the Environment Agency. This will include training to others in the team and regulatory teams within the EA.

You will lead your team to develop appropriate and novel solutions. Knowledge of design and use of real-time instrumentation for regulation would be an advantage.

The evidence we provide underpins many of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities such as the Water Framework Directive, Urban Wastewater Directive and Statutory Surface Water Monitoring Programme.

You will be responsible for the development of NWQIS role in supporting the implementation of Environment Act 2021 including supporting the development of the next generation of equipment and methodologies that will be used to deliver the 2021 Environment Act. The team works closely with colleagues across a wide range of functions and is currently leading on number of high-profile projects water quality investigations and river restorations
The NWQIS provides instrumentation and advice which enables the Environment Agency to better understand the State of the Environment.

It does this by advising on both investigations and resulting data. The team maintains a wide range of equipment and instruments used to collect field monitoring data and develops specialist solutions to tackle new and emerging issues.
You will develop of NWQIS role in supporting the implementation of Environment Act 2021.
We are looking for someone who is experienced in:

- knowledge of design and installation of water quality instrumentation systems
- the analysis and interpretation of complex water quality data sets
- explaining complex technical and scientific principles to a wide range of staff and stakeholders
- Must have a full UK driving License

The role will be based at Caversham Lakes. There will be frequent and sometimes unscheduled travel across the Agency to access remote sites.
As a result, the post requires a full UK driving licence.
