Your role, supported by our Water Resource Specialists, will be to help protect and improve these precious resources for wildlife, people and future generations. You will do this by supporting workloads such as:
• responding to abstraction licence applications, consultations and queries;
• supporting the catchment abstraction management strategy process
• supporting the Water Industry National Environment Programme (WINEP)
• contributing to drought planning and response
• supporting the technical requirements of the Water Framework Directive
• supporting the area contributions to Abstraction reform
Depending on your skills, interests, and team priorities, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to a wide variety of activities carried out within our team. These include:
• data visualisation through GIS mapping;
• water quality planning;
• river basin planning;
• catchment planning;
• managing and analysing data and evidence to inform area business plans;
• strategic monitoring programme work.
The Integrated Environment Planning (IEP) team is predominantly a water planning team with specialists in water quality, water resources and river basin planning.
Working with area operational teams and national colleagues, we collate, analyse and share data, and produce the environmental plans that inform and drive East Midland’s area priorities.
Our small, friendly team of advisors are at the heart of environmental decision making, facilitating integrated actions to solve complex problems.
Good organisational skills/discipline and the ability to plan, track, deliver and evaluate work.

Experience of gathering, maintaining and quality-assuring data/information

Experience of translating guidance and instructions into local delivery.

Good research/analysis skills, supporting an ability to make proportionate, evidence-based inferences/proposals from information.

Able to work under own initiative and as part of a larger, cross-functional/multidisciplinary team

Sensitive to the needs of the internal and external customers and able to deliver outcomes through these.

Able to offer support to working groups and organise/facilitate effective meetings.

Knowledge and experience in one or more of these subject areas would be highly desirable: Geographical Information Systems; hydrology, water resource management.
