We are looking for an energetic and inspirational person to lead our new Partnerships and Strategic Overview Team, focused on the development and delivery of Environment Agency capital projects.

You’ll be a visible passionate leader with excellent communication and influencing skills. You’ll maintain and establish strong working relationships with our range of internal teams and external partners so that we increase the efficiency and deliverability of our Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM) capital programme across Devon and Cornwall.

You’ll be enthusiastic about developing yourself and others and be a positive role model who creates an open, inclusive, caring and trusting culture which supports people to perform at their best. You will have line management responsibilities, including health, safety and wellbeing of your team, resource and workforce planning, recruitment, performance management, and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

You will lead and support your team and partners to develop new projects to increase the flood resilience of our at-risk communities by planning and controlling resources to maximise effective and efficient uses of finances, programmes, and people so that we deliver the most for our communities and environment.
This role will lead our new Environment Agency capital project development and delivery team, part the Partnerships and Strategic Overview team in our Flood and Coastal Risk Management department. This team focuses on the development and delivery of Environment Agency led capital projects, working closely with the Integrated Delivery Team.

Delivering a multi-functional and multi-fundable programme of new projects, increasing the resilience to flooding of our communities and contributing to better protecting properties
This role requires a mix of team leadership and programme management skills to ensure we can develop and deliver a robust capital programme.
We’re looking for a good knowledge of how flood and coastal erosion risk is managed and funded in England. Together with the ability to build strong working relationships with a range of partners and stakeholders in this field.

You should have an appropriate level of experience and commensurate knowledge of managing health, safety and wellbeing.
Experience in overseeing programmes of work and excellent organisational skills is important to providing clear direction to the team on the shape of the programme together with day-to-day workload planning.

Excellent communication skills that enhance our reputation with our partners and drive forward business improvements will support the motivation of all in the team.
We have a strong incident management culture. The post-holder will be given training and be expected to have an active incident management role which may require you to work unsocial hours.
