An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Central Estates team as a Project Support Officer.

You’ll be supporting important flood risk management projects across the East and West Midlands using your excellent organisational skills.

You’ll be working in collaboration with surveyor colleagues within the team as well as with teams from across the breadth of the organisation to deliver sustainable environmental outcomes.

As part of this front line operational team, your days will be varied and challenging and include compiling reference information and plans of land ownership as well as co-ordinating activity at all stages of project delivery.

You’ll also be involved in processing sensitive information surrounding compensation negotiations and other financial related activity.

We will support your learning and development specific for this role as well as help you to think about your longer term career.
You may be recently graduated or already have experience in a project support or administrative / financial role and are looking for a change.

You’ll be part of an Estates service of 130 people nationwide.

Your work will be core to the delivery of the Agency's £5.2 billion capital programme to better protect 330,000 homes.

More specifically Estates help support Environment Agency land, property, compensation and valuation matters. Our experienced teams specialise in negotiating access, dealing with compensation claims from land and property owners where they have suffered loss as a consequence of our flood and climate related work.
Working as a Project Support Officer in the Environment Agency means the environment will be at the heart of everything you do: the quality support you deliver will help to ensure we maximise sustainability, value for money and drive forward positive environmental outcomes for our local communities.

You’ll need to:
• Be an effective communicator and have a natural aptitude for administrative processes and compliance, including financial payments
• Demonstrate working as part of a team and independently. A natural organiser, you’ll effectively manage your time to achieve tight or conflicting deadlines. You’ll use initiative to help improve administrative processes and improve efficiency
• Show excellent attention to detail, including accuracy when handling data and information; demonstrate compliance with data protection laws, internal policies and standards to robustly maintain records
• Be experienced in Microsoft Office applications and basic Geographic Information System (GIS) Skills (training can be provided)

This role will require you to work out of the central Birmingham office for two or three days per week and can be undertaken from home if appropriate for the remainder.
