We are looking for an enthusiastic Team Member to help us deliver a range of operational and maintenance activities.
This hands on role involves working in a team, outside in all weathers, using a variety of tools and equipment to carry out tasks such as cutting grass on flood banks and clearing debris from trash screens.
You will carry out dynamic risk management and unplanned risk management documentation for low risk incident response activities. As part of the role you will regularly inspect equipment, such as tools, vehicles, plant and personal protective equipment.
Provide response to incidents inside and outside of normal working hours by participating, training and exercising in an incident standby role. Deploying sandbags, temporary barriers, mobile pumps and pollution equipment. You will be trained and supported to contribute to our response to incidents.
Our field teams protect people and the environment by maintaining and operating our flood and coastal risk management assets and responding to incidents.
Field teams predominately work outside, in or near water. With a range of technical skills they deliver watercourse maintenance, along with asset maintenance and construction projects using a variety of equipment and plant including floating plant, boats and other specialist equipment.
They support the prevention or mitigation of incidents day and night.
As part of this role we would like candidates to have the following:
• A positive adaptable approach to work,
• A high level of self-motivation,
• A desire to work outside,
• The ability to use judgement to resolve problems/escalate issues,
• Good communication skills,
• Good computer literacy and be competent with IT devices, such as iPads,
• Functional skills at level 2 in Math’s and English (e.g. GCSE Grades A–C or equivalent) – or be willing to work to attain these as part of the apprenticeship,
• A full driving license.
Environmental Awareness and an appreciation of site health and safety could be beneficial.
