Based in Kent, you’ll manage a diverse range of projects. Leading our planning and maintenance teams, you’ll offer advice and guidance on a technical level, in order to ensure the smooth running of day-to-day maintenance. In times of crisis when both small and large flood defences are compromised, you’ll take the lead in problem-solving and look to resolve issues as quickly and efficiently as possible. We plan ahead for flood risk in all our work and adapt to change, including climate change.

On external projects you’ll work alongside key stakeholders, focusing on long-term planning and projections.

You’ll also be at the centre of assurance and quality control, making sure that all sites meet Environment Agency regulations, in order to reduce maintenance needs and keep things running as efficiently as possible.
Our job is to reduce the impact of floods on people and their property. We use data to analyse and map the probability of flooding and coastal erosion. We work closely with local authorities to ensure that development is appropriate and we help communities understand flood risk. We maintain and operate flood and sea defences, working with natural processes where possible to provide benefits to communities and wildlife.
A fully qualified Chartered Engineer with a good understanding of civil engineering works for both design and construction. Confident and credible, you’ll use your excellent communication and negotiation skills to build solid working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, from the general public to internal colleagues and external agencies. You’re able to assist in technical discussions on both design challenges and site issues, with a working knowledge of CDM, health & safety regulations for construction sites, and the laws for reservoir safety. You appreciate the importance of delivery and targets and understand the need to provide management reports when prioritising work.
We offer a highly competitive package which includes a generous career average pension scheme, 27 days’ holiday and a wide range of other benefits. We’re committed to flexible working so we’ll support you to strike a good balance between your work and personal life. We’ll also encourage you to keep developing your skills and professional knowledge.
