Do you want to make the world a better place? Are you passionate about protecting our communities against natural threats and hazards?

Working for the Environment Agency in the East Midlands will give you an opportunity to make a difference; an excellent rewards package and a commitment that working with us will be life enhancing.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and inspirational person to lead our Operations Management department, a key Asset Management role within Flood Risk Management. Your work will be conducted in a high-freedom environment that makes the people you work with happier; focuses on health, safety and wellbeing; embraces emergent leadership; and supports your own development.

You'll be a highly visible leader, able to organise, inspire and motivate people to achieve great outcomes. You'll know how to make our corporate ambitions and local priorities resonate with others so plans are converted into delivery and key stakeholders know the value of our work. You'll bring a passion to the role and in return be supported by great people in the Area.
You will lead and support a number of teams who are responsible for operations management in the northern part of our patch, covering the River Trent catchment from Newark on Trent to the Humber Estuary.

You will also form an essential part of our Area Leadership Team, providing forward thinking and strategic direction to the East Midlands Area. Your leadership will also enhance the Areas incident response capability by holding a senior incident management role.
We are looking for applicants who believe that providing great leadership is fundamental to our ability to protect people and the environment. You will be able to draw on your experiences as a leader to describe how you have helped make a real difference.

As a member of the Area Leadership Team you will be committed to developing yourself and those around you, providing a positive role model who is versatile in the way they create an open, inclusive, and trusting culture where people can give of their best.

You must be passionate about developing other people, be innovative in your thinking and have experience managing health, safety and wellbeing.

We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it, for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment.
We are looking to strengthen our leadership team with a person who is excited to challenge the status quo and includes everyone. We are fully committed to having an inclusive workforce to reflect the communities we serve and welcome applications regardless of race, sex, religion, nationality, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity or marital status.

We support flexible working patterns.

This permanent role will be based in the East Midlands Area. Travel will be required to other offices and locations which may not be easily accessible via public transport, and so you will need a full UK driving licence.
