We’re looking for someone with a passion for the coast to join our Coastal Evidence and Risk team.

You will provide expertise on coastal flood modelling and coastal change to ensure we have robust evidence to support flood and coastal change management decisions for England. Our coast is at the forefront of the climate emergency, and this is a great opportunity to shape, develop and apply our current and future approaches to tackle this fascinating challenge.

Specifically, you will:
· Develop, review and assure coastal models and data
· Provide specialist advice and support to underpin decisions relating to coastal planning, flood and coastal change management projects
· Develop, embed and apply new analysis approaches, new datasets and techniques
· Influence and collaborate with colleagues from across our organisation and with our external partners, driving an understanding of the value of coastal modelling data and evidence
· Develop your technical skills and support the learning and development of others through coaching and delivery of technical training

You will have the opportunity to work on a variety of activities on all parts of the English coastline, while working with a wide range of customers, partners, and practitioners.
Evidence and Risk are part of the Incident Management and Resilience Team. We are responsible for setting standards, contributing to research and development, and we are actively influencing future change, shaping the way we manage and respond to the climate emergency. We are a national team with colleagues located throughout England, specialising in fluvial and coastal flood modelling and forecasting, hydrological assessments, flood modelling and hydrology improvements, mapping and analytics, data improvements, and skills development.
You will be able to demonstrate transferable skills and capabilities in the following:
Experience, knowledge and understanding of modelling coastal and estuarine processes
Experience, knowledge and understanding of coastal hazard management, emergency planning, incident management and / or flood forecasting
Experience of GIS and complex data analysis and processing
Experience of modelling and forecasting for flood and / or coastal change purposes
A passion for collaborating, working with others and building relationships to maximise outcomes and benefits.
A passion for proactively looking for better ways of doing things and seeks to improve efficiency and effectiveness of methods processes and approaches
Ability to influence and persuade effectively, using a wide variety of strategies and approaches

Experience of developing others using a variety of methods, including delivering training, coaching and feedback.
