This is an exciting opportunity to become part of the Environment Agency team providing technical expertise and leadership on air dispersion and noise modelling. You will help us to deliver a cleaner, healthier environment to protect people and wildlife.

You will audit and interpret air and noise impact assessments: providing advice and training to colleagues across the organisation, developing software tools and carrying out complex modelling studies. You will work closely with other members of the team, providing technical direction and helping to support their development. You will work with colleagues across the organisation to support policy and research in air quality and noise. You’ll also have the opportunity to get involved in incident response.
You’ll be a part of the Air Quality Modelling and Assessment Unit (AQMAU) based in our head office in Bristol. The team provides regulatory advice to support permitting, compliance and major incidents, helping to protect people and wildlife from regulated emissions. You’ll be part of a team sharing skills and experience to deliver the best outcomes for the environment. The work we do impacts on permitting decisions and how a site can legally operate.
You will have
• Significant air quality and/or noise modelling experience gained through regulatory, consultancy or industry roles.
• A proven ability to analyse data and solve problems to make decisions.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information in a clear and accessible way.
• Strong interpersonal and team-working skills and the ability to coach colleagues.
If you would like further information about the role please contact Alun Roberts-Jones on 0203 0254052 or email Alun.roberts-jones@environment-agency.gov.uk
