You will be part of our Evidence and Risk Skills Resilience team within Incident Management and Resilience. Your focus will be on ensuring we develop the right technical skills to support our assessment of evidence and risk. The role has a specific emphasis on building our expertise in hydrology, hydraulic modelling and real time flood forecasting, but also includes building technical skills across geographic information systems, environmental incident management, and data management. You will work as part of a small dedicated skills team, developing and progressing our skills plan. You will coordinate our development tools, processes and programmes, working across our teams to ensure technical skills are built and embedded on the job.
You will report into the Skills Resilience Senior Team Leader and be part of a wider Technical Services team.
The Technical Services team brings together a diverse range of small technical teams focusing on improving our evidence, understanding and information underpinning flood and environmental risk management. We are experts in river and coastal flooding, hydrology, flood risk data and incident management. We support the delivery of flood and environmental incident response.
Through experience to date you will be able to demonstrate some of the following:
• Technical knowledge in flood hydrology, flood risk numerical modelling or flood forecasting model development.
• Delivering to an agreed plan and the ability to manage your own workload.
• Planning and facilitation of training, delivering skills development activities and improving the technical performance of others.
• Good communication skills, anticipating others needs and able to use full range of communication methods to ensure effective understanding.
• Can build relationships, networks and collaborate to develop, maintain and share technical expertise
• Can adapt delivery styles to suit different learning situations and individual learner needs.
• Commitment to your own self development. Membership of a relevant professional body.

You can chose your base location from our national hub offices subject to Facilities approval (Warrington, Leeds, Solihull/ Birmingham, Reading, Peterborough, Exeter, Worthing). As the team are dispersed there will be a requirement to travel to some of these hub offices plus London and Bristol.
