The priority focus of this role is to develop a robust future capital programme of projects to reduce flood risk to communities across Yorkshire. This will require working with internal teams, external partners and our supply chain. In order to do this you will need to build on our existing relationships with key stakeholders and partners and actively seek opportunities where we can integrate our programmes to deliver more.
It’s a varied role which will draw upon a range of transferrable and specialist skills, you can expect to be involved in any of the following:
•Working with internal teams, external partners and our supply chain to identify future capital projects.
•Establishing governance structures where required to monitor and report on development of future programme.
•Building and developing relationships with key individuals, teams and organisations across the Area including City Regions; LEPs; Local Authorities the Yorkshire Regional Flood and Coastal Committee (YRFCC) and funding bodies, where the issues require a collaborative, cross boundary approach.
•Providing inspiration and raising partners aspirations and ambitions to enable us to do more together.
•Enhancing the reputation of the EA, and the Defra Group where appropriate/possible and create opportunities for partnership working to deliver priority outcomes.
Flood and Coastal Risk Management is the largest department at the EA. Our Programme team is part of the FCRM department. The team is responsible for developing, planning and monitoring the delivery of our programmes to ensure the desired outcomes for people, property and the wider environment are achieved. We are looking for flexible and future focused individuals who can adapt to changing priorities and are keen to work in the environment and flood sector.
Through your experience to date you will (for all or most of the following):
•Demonstrate leadership of both internal and external colleagues to achieve desired outcomes
•Demonstrate the ability to develop and maintain good relationships with internal and external customers
•Understand how other organisations operate and how their ambitions link with ours.
•Understand the impact of flooding and solutions to protect communities against it
•Have experience of project and programme management and how this links to strategic outcomes.
•Have an understanding of flood risk management funding
•Be able to work to tight deadlines and timescales
•Follow logical processes and work within or develop a governance framework.
•Understand the political arena that we work within
•Have exceptional communication skills from developing a business case or bid to delivering a presentation or chairing meetings.

A degree level education is desired however this is not essential when appropriate experience has been gained.
