The successful applicant will join an office based team responsible for the management of the area telemetry system to ensure accurate and timely data and information is provided to our customers. The high quality hydrometric data produced by the service is essential for the effective management of water resources and flood risk. We are looking for a motivated and hardworking individual to fill this post on assignment until 31 May 2018.
The Hydrometry and Telemetry Systems team undertakes core telemetry, hydrometric and hydrological activities across Yorkshire and North East. You will join a team of 11, based at Lateral, Leeds. The team is responsible for the management of the telemetry system at an area level and the validation and archiving of hydrometric data collected in the two areas. The service delivered underpins much of the Environment Agency’s statutory responsibilities relating to flood forecasting and water resources.
We’re seeking an experienced person familiar with Hydrometry and Telemetry systems. You will be qualified to at least degree standard (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline and possess knowledge and proven ability in:

• Telemetry systems - outstations, infrastructure and databases;
• Operational Hydrometry & Telemetry monitoring equipment;
• Data gathering and fault analysis,
• Data validation techniques;
• Health and safety;
• Working within a customer focussed department.

Other key requirements for this role include excellent communication skills, proficiency in word, excel and database management, a focus on efficiency, innovation and quality, along with a passion for analysis and problem solving.
