We’re looking for someone to help us influence the lives and communities of people across Hampshire, IOW, East and West Sussex through our input into the planning system and our work with others.
As a Development Management Planning Advisor you’ll:
• deal with high risk and complex planning applications and pre-application enquiries;
• input to Local Plans and other strategic plans
• work with internal colleagues to understand environmental pressures and opportunities associated with development and translate these into clear messages for external customers;
• build strong relationships with a range of customers including Local Planning Authority staff, developers, consultants and our Defra family;
• be up to date on the latest planning framework.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the Sustainable Places Team for Hampshire, Sussex and IOW. We’re a small team of 9 responsible for gaining positive outcomes through our input into the planning system: promoting sustainable development, managing flood risk, remediating land contamination, improving water quality and encouraging biodiversity.
We work with others to make sure new and existing developments have minimal environmental impact and well planned environmental infrastructure.
To be a successful Development Management Planning Advisor you will need to have experience of dealing with Town & Country Planning case work, have a proven track record of excellent customer service, be capable of effective working within teams and possess good communication and IT skills.

You should also have excellent organisational skills and be able to work to deadlines prioritising your work. Ideally you will be a member, or working towards membership, of the RTPI or have a relevant qualification.
