We’re looking for a Technical Specialist to join our Data and Systems department. You will help us meet an ever increasing demand on our data and the associated services. Our aim is to manage our data and platforms in a consistent way ensuring all staff can easily use high quality data and information that will support insight-driven decision making, our environmental outcomes and our reputation.

Working as part of a dynamic professional team this new role will support our growing use of ESRI technologies, particularly ArcGIS Online (AGOL) and ArcGIS Enterprise.

You will communicate our vision for these technologies, fostering relationships with the user community working across multiple business teams. You will establish governance, develop common ways of working through operational instructions and guidance, share best practice to enable growth in the use of these technologies. You will provide authoritative advice, develop technical assurance quality criteria, service reporting and manage and mitigate risks, escalating when necessary. You will ensure the wider National GIS team are able to provide customer support and day to day administration. Once established you will work with users to understand their needs and support the development of proof of concepts, showcasing the use of these technologies
This post is in the National GIS team, within Data & Systems as part of the Flood and Coastal Risk Management Directorate. This team provides leadership and cross-cutting support to all Environment Agency users of spatial data and information. It is a centre of excellence for spatial data management and the application of GIS technologies. They run GIS services to support the business outcomes and help set the corporate direction for Geographic Information.
We’re seeking an individual with excellent data and information management skills with experience in the ESRI suite of products, including AGOL, Enterprise, ArcGIS Server and ArcGIS desktop alongside standard Microsoft packages.

You will have proven experience in developing business processes. Embedding them across the wider business, supporting consistent ways of working and championing best practice. A working knowledge of user needs analysis, service management approaches and agile development methods would be advantageous

You will be able to work effectively as a part of a bigger team and have excellent communication and influencing skills to help your engagement with both technical and non-technical audiences.
