As an Environment Officer in one of our Land & Water teams you will have a varied and challenging front line role where you will make a real difference on issues such as water quality, pollution, water company regulation, agriculture and water resources:
• Inspecting farms, water company sites and other regulated sites.
• Ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
• Providing advice on pollution prevention and control.
• Investigating a wide range of environmental pollution incidents. This will involve some out of hours and weekend work on a rota.
• Taking enforcement action where necessary.

We will provide all the training you need. You will be supported by experienced colleagues and receive comprehensive training and ongoing professional development.
You will join one of the Land & Water Teams covering the Greater Manchester, Merseyside and Cheshire area. As the role involves some field work you must live within reasonable travelling distance of this area. You will be based in our Warrington Office but a wide range of options for working from home or other office locations are available.
People in our Land & Water teams are expected to work flexibly across our workstreams.
You'll be able to demonstrate that you have experience of, or skills in:
• Effective communication and building customer and partner relationships
• Influencing and managing customer expectations
• Making decisions and solving problems to achieve positive outcomes
• Organising and prioritising your workload.
• Dealing with challenging people and situations
• Delivering work at pace in high pressured environments
You will also need
• An interest in the environmental sector and willingness to learn
• Ability to use basic IT systems

A full UK driving licence is essential. A vehicle will be provided for your use when undertaking field work. This may be a hire car, pool car or lease vehicle.

The Environment Officer role has a starting salary of £23 446 that increases as you move through your training.
